The New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH) issued updated guidance to school districts operating summer learning programs. Specifically, NYSDOH has said that schools may implement masking policies consistent with those issued for the operation of summer youth camps and child care agencies.
According to NYSDOH, “Given current low rates of COVID-19 transmission, school districts may decide to implement revised masking policies consistent with those available in the archived INTERIM GUIDANCE FOR CHILD CARE, DAY CAMP, AND OVERNIGHT CAMP PROGRAMS DURING THE COVID-19 PUBLIC HEALTH EMERGENCY (available here).
The Sayville School District will adopt the following practices effective immediately:
It is important to note that this revised guidance applies to the 2021 summer programming only. Information on the 2021-2022 school year is not known at this time. If the NYSDOH issues guidance to replace existing requirements for the regular school year, we will provide updates as quickly as possible.
The in-person only Board of Education Meeting is scheduled for Thursday, July 22nd, at 6:30 p.m. in the Administration Building. There will be an Audit Committee Meeting from 5:30 p.m. -5:45 p.m. on July 22 There will also be an in-person only Board of Education Meeting on Wednesday, August 18th at 6:30 p.m. in the Administration Building.
