Senior Breakfast for Class of 2011
New Venue for A High School Tradition: the Senior Breakfast
Tell-tale signs of the long-standing tradition decorated the recently redesigned interior of the Sayville High School cafeteria. Streamers were looped among the new light fixtures, photos of the Senior class in assorted group shots were pasted to the bright clean walls; but, the most important indication that it was Senior Breakfast day was the host of hungry seniors who flocked to the buffet tables.
Simmering trays of everyone’s favorites: bacon, eggs, French toast, home fries, bagels, juice, coffee, and all the trimmings were once again provided by another great tradition: Parkville Deli. Ceremoniously greeting the students at the buffet tables were High School administrators, faculty, and staff who joined them in the celebration.
Every year Senior Breakfast allows members of the graduating class to break from their busy schedules and commingle over a nourishing morning meal. Originally launched by Senior Class Advisor Mrs. Marie Joost-Cox and Principal Joseph Buderman, "Senior Breakfast remains as popular as ever," Principal Ron Hoffer has observed. Thanks to the Senior class organizers and advisors who arranged the 23rd annual event and the Senior-Class parent volunteers who dished out the breakfast fare, the entire class of 2011 enjoyed this pre-Thanksgiving Day feast.
