new season for good reason

  • A New Season for the Sayville Ironman Triathlon

Changing the season for good reason, the Seventh Annual Ironman Triathlon Race was held on Sunday, October 21.

Why the switch? Triathlon Coordinator Gary Jenson and his team of coaches know too well how hectic June can be. They hoped that holding the Ironman in the fall of the new school year would allow more students to participate.

“The Sayville Triathlon is an event for students in our school district that introduces them to a healthy and cardio-fit lifestyle,” explained Mr. Jensen. “We hope that your children will be able to compete in this fun and healthy activity.”

This year's event was held on Sunday, October 21, 2007. Registration started at 6:30 a.m. with the Triathlon starting in our Middle School Pool at 7:45 a.m. The event consisted of a 100 meter swim, 5k bicycle ride (3.1 miles), followed by a 1 mile run. Flyers were distributed in student’s physical education classes in September.

Attached to this web site is a copy of the results list of both the Sixth Annual and Seventh Annual Triathlon. Congratulations to all the students named on the lists. Their achievements should encourage all contestants who will participate in the Annual Ironman each fall!
