History Club Thrilled for Darfur Donations

  • Awakened by the opening chords of Michael Jackson’s Thriller, ghastly Sayville History Club zombies synchronized their stomps in fiendish symmetry. On Saturday, Oct 27th, precisely at 6 pm, members of the History Club at Sayville High School participated in the largest simultaneous Thriller dance festival and raised $110 for Darfur at the same time.

Last year, dancer Ines Markeljevic hosted a Thriller Fest and set a Guinness record for the largest Thriller dance in one spot. This year, the fest was expanded to Thrill the World, another project by Markeljevic, to break the Guinness World Record for the largest simultaneous dance of Michael Jackson’s Thriller.

History Club and Key Club member Matthew Martinez enlisted the dancing talents of his classmates who practiced the chorography for the highly publicized international event. Each participant also pledged donations to a Darfur collection

Mrs. Sue Hart, one of the History Club moderators, applauded the students’ initiative to be creative and caring at the same time.

    It was thrilling to watch!
