Generosity Abounds at Sunrise Drive

Once they completed a schoolwide food drive for Thanksgiving, Sunrise Drive’s Fourth and Fifth-grade student council members immediately launched into the Annual Giving Tree fundraiser.

“Thanks to the generosity of our school community,” observed Social Worker Toni Fabian, “we collected and distributed over 300 gifts to Sunrise Drive families. In addition, we collected and donated 150 toys to the Child Life Center at Stony Brook Hospital Pediatric Center. Each toy was decorated both with a heart and message that read 'From our hearts to yours from the students at Sunrise Drive.'”

There was no denying Mrs. Fabian’s account. Her office was filled window-to-wall with packages and busy volunteers working to ensure all families had a happy holiday. Expressing the sentiments of the Sunrise Drive community, Mrs. Fabian identified the students as “industrious elves who surely understand the meaning of giving this holiday season.”
