Lincoln Students Send Supplies

  • Lincoln Students Send Supplies For the Holiday Season

American Troops in Iraq were not forgotten by the Lincoln Avenue fourth graders in Ms. Nicole Palmarozzo’s class. Searching the website www.anysoldier.com with the help of their student teacher from St. Joseph’s College, Kristin Morea, the students located two troops originally from New York as well as lists of specific supplies they requested.

In addition to bringing in such items as toothpaste, deodorant, DVD’s books, games, chewing gum, snacks, and beef jerky, the students wrote messages that spread holiday cheer. Knowing how appreciative our troops in Iraq would be, Ms Palmarozzo and Ms. Morea couldn’t help but be proud of their students’ generosity and enthusiasm in collecting the donations.

Sure enough, a troop member sent an email, dated Thursday December 20, after receiving the care packages from Ms. Palmaorzzo’s class. In her email the Troop member stated:

“I wanted to let you know that I received a great care packaged sent to us by you and your students. …it was a nice surprise. …Everything was great and I shared with everyone I work with. The DVDs went fast…Please thank everyone involved in supporting us over here. It really makes a difference. Thank you again!”

The students learned that an appreciated gift is doubly precious!
