Sayville Art Student Receives Award for Ceramic

  • HOW GREAT THEIR ART!

     

    A ceramic a multi-piece “totem pole” by Sayville art student Samantha Carley received an award in the Advanced Visions IV: High School Artists of Excellence and Nassau and Suffolk Counties show that is sponsored by the C.W. Post Campus Art Department of Long Island University. The show, which hosted 64 students from 34 school districts, is open to Advanced Placement, International Baccalaureate, and Portfolio Preparation art students only. Other awards for The Most Original Work, Best Use of Medium, and Most Expressive Work were presented to encourage and recognize originality, skill and the ability to communicate ideas through visual language.

     

    Congratulations to Samantha Carley, and her teachers, Bobbie Dalpiaz and Evan Hammer for this achievement. Also kudos to another Sayville AP Art student, Jessica Farruggio, whose drawing in colored pencil was also featured in this exclusive show.


    The awards ceremony will be held on Wednesday, January 23rd, 7 pm at the Hillwood Student Art League Gallery, in Hillwood Commons at the C.W. Post Campus 720 Northern Boulevard Brookville, NY 11548
    . Afterwards, both artworks will be on display at Sayville High School during the month of February.
