he Facility planning committee has met several times to discuss the feasibility of a bond referendum for building improvements. This advisory committee is comprised of 16 volunteers, who include community members, parents, teachers, and administrators. The committee is charged with exploring the various aspects of a bond referendum and reporting their findings to the Sayville Board of Education. The ultimate decision to go forward lies with the Board.
The following topics have been discussed:
v Understanding the positive aspects of a bond referendum
v Explanation of State aid that would be given to Sayville
v Facility needs assessment
v Prioritizing building needs, maintenance and upgrades
v The relationship between the instructional program and the school environment
v The impact of a bond on the tax rate
v The amount of the bond referendum
v Date for a bond vote
More details will follow in Highlights and on the web site. In addition, a Superintendent’s Roundtable will be held on Wednesday, March 7 at 7:00-9:00 p.m. at the High School. This informal gathering will give you an opportunity to learn more and share you thoughts.
