  • Audrey Leo (above) Lincoln Avenue First-grader Audrey Leo was recognized for winning First Place at the Brookhaven Science Fair with her project “Knot Again”. Award presented by Dr. Michele LeBlanc and BOE President John Verdone.

Retiring District Clerk Honored

  • Soon-to-be-retired Maribeth Demetres was honored at her last Board of Education meeting as District Clerk. Presenting her with flowers, the very grateful and humbled Board Members could not say enough good things about her qualities and character, both as a public servant and human being.

Norm deVenau Receives NYSSBA Lifetime-Achievement Award

  • On behalf of the New York State School Boards Association, Sayville BOE President John Verdone surprised BOE member Norm deVenau by presenting him with the NYSSBA Lifetime Achievement Award- Level 4. Norm deVenau is a long-term and active Sayville school-board member who continualluy strives to expand his governance knowledge and skills. In his capacity as a BOE member, Mr. deVenau serves both the children in Sayville and in Suffolk County. For his tireless dedication and commitment, he was honored with this NYSSBA's Recognition Program award.
