• Cherry Avenue's First Graders Share THANK YOU MESSAGES for Thoughtful Thursdays

Karen Hooks who teaches First grade at Cherry created a project for her class. "I made "Thoughtful Thursdays" in Google classroom (ALL SOOO NEW TO ME) where we will express gratitude and give thanks in some way each Thursday.  Our first "Thoughtful Thursday" assignment was to send out thank you notes to hospitals so they can display them in their entranceways to help spread some love and sunshine to all of the hard working hospital workers. I know someone at Peconic Bay Medical Center who is taking on this for the staff there." Miss Hooks hopes these will inspire others  "to hop on and spread some love."

  • Max

My son’s first grade teacher at Cherry Avenue, had a wonderful assignment this week! She asked the students to acknowledge the hard work and commitment of medical workers during this unprecedented time. Max wrote a note of gratitude to Miss Hooks’ friend, Tara Anglin, and the staff at Peconic Bay Medical Center in Riverhead. He was very excited to send some sunshine to these very special people. What a terrific idea! Great job, Miss Hooks!! I wanted to share a picture of Max and the letter he mailed out. Thank you!!
