Sayville Welcomes New Staff in Fall of 2020

Sayville Welcomes New Staff in Fall of 2020
  • Sayville School District welcomed new staff with the traditional orientation program. Practicing social-distancing protocols during these workshops, the new personnel were introduced to District procedure along with District Administrators and viewed a photo slideshow of downtown Sayville and areas of interest.  In prior years, the STA had sponsored a bus tour for new staff to show them the local sites, but due to COVID-19 restrictions, the virtual tour was the next best thing, thanks to Cathy Ward who took the photos.

Congratulations go to the following who have been selected as leave replacements or who are filling positions opened by retiring staff:

Joseph Castoro – MS Principal; Kaitlin Shore – HS English; Katelyn Pereira – HS Math; Frank DeCicco-MS Math; Amy Buckley - SD Social Worker; Kara Alcabes-PT School Nurse; Lisa Bordt – Fourth-Grade Leave Replacement-Lincoln Avenue; Jack Nielsen - HS Physics/General Science; Anthony Calabrese – SHS Social Worker.

Special thanks to orientation organizers Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction Dr. Christine Criscione, her assistant Dana Galanti along with Sayville faculty Tara Felice and Cathy Ward for setting it all up. Invited faculty trainers included Mike Pace, Dawn Lloyd Matthews and Kathy Scully. Also, after being welcomed by Sayville Superintendent Dr. John Stimmel, the new staff learned about District policy and procedures. Each of these sessions was presented by the Sayville Administrators: Assistant Superintendent for Business John Belmonte, Assistant Superintendent for Human Resources Dr. Peter Branscombe, Director of Student Services Jillian Makris, Athletic Director Dennis Maloney, both the Coordinator and the Administrator of Special Education Tracy Von Eschen and Stacie Gigante, respectively, and Director of Instructional Technology Will Seus.

Among the many aspects of how a school district functions, the incoming staff learned that, here in Sayville, it is definitely a team effort.
