Keeping Anatomy Class in Stitches
Anatomy in Stitches
Sayville High School Science Teacher Cindy Giannico has been keeping her students in stitches with Anatomy class. “After learning about epithelial tissue,” Ms. Giannico explained, “the students used sutures to stitch up a banana wound.” Class of 2021 Senior Lia Runco, who has applied to nursing school, “did an amazing job stitching up the banana skin,” Ms. Giannico added. “Her amazing skills will help her as a future healthcare worker.” The students gave a general consensus about their lesson stitching up bananas—they said this was most fun they've ever had.
