Who’s In the Running for National PE Teacher of the Year? No Surprise. It’s Coach Beth Bolger
For her outstanding commitment to Physical Education, the Society of Health and Physical Educators—known as SHAPE America—recently awarded Lincoln Avenue’s Beth Bolger with the 2021 Eastern District Teacher of the Year for Elementary Physical Education. This accolade also puts Coach Bolger in the running for the National Teacher of the Year Award, along with four other district winners in the Elementary Physical Education category.
To further her candidacy, Bolger must create a twenty-minute video of her teaching style and philosophy, submit lesson and unit plans along with other supporting evidence, answer essay questions and participate in a 30-minute interview about her “platform” if she should win the National Teacher of the Year Award.
While Coach Bolger has had tremendous experience promoting and advocating for Health and Physical Education for many years, she is excited about this opportunity to share her views and feels privileged to be considered for the National Award.
“I am completely blessed and humbled,” Coach Bolger commented, “to have gotten this far! The other four candidates are amazing professionals in the field, who I look up to a great deal. I am honored to be in the running alongside each of them!”
