    Spring Book Drive

The high school’s Great Stories Book Club highlighted the importance of reading with their recent spring book drive. High School Librarian and book club advisor Mrs. Finnerty said that teens “got the word out” and promoted the drive on social media as well as by creating flyers and decorating posters that were hung around the school. The drive ran for two weeks and
twenty-four boxes of books were collected!

The mixture of children’s, young adult and adult books will be donated to The Book Fairies, an organization based in Freeport, L.I.

According to the Book Fairies website, their mission “is that all children have equitable access to books so they can learn, grow and thrive.”

Mrs. Finnerty shared that members of the teen book club are very happy knowing that, through their efforts, they were able to help collect and contribute to such a worthy cause.  Many thanks to all the teachers and staff that donated!
