Dr. Stimmel Earns ASSET Award

  • Dr. John Stimmel Recognized As

An ASSET to Our Technology Programs

At their Annual 2015 Luncheon, Suffolk ASSET recently recognized Dr. John Stimmel, Sayville's Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction, with a District Honoree Award for his longtime support of technology in education. Both as a building principal and now as Assistant Superintendent, “he has led the charge to empower student learning and achievement by utilizing technology in meaningful and progressive ways. He is a champion of teacher professional development, ensuring that all are well supported, both technically and instructionally, in all technology endeavors. Under his direction, Sayville schools will be embarking upon a 1:1 initiative in five grades beginning in the 2015-2016 school year,” wrote Barbara Hall, Sayville’s Coordinator of Instructional and Information Technology in her recommendation.

For nearly twenty years, Suffolk ASSET has enhanced teaching and learning in Suffolk County school districts through the integration of technology, using computers and other educational technologies, into the K-12 curriculum.  Suffolk Asset has not only encouraged, but ensured “that our students are provided with the educational opportunities necessary to prepare them for the 21st century.”

Dr. Stimmel’s high standards of supervision and leadership in the area of educational technologies earned him this well-deserved honor. Congratulations.
