A Sign Design - Two Years in the Making

    Two Years in the Making

Two years ago, the students in Mr. Chad Cross’ in Career and Technology Education (CTE) classes were excited by an opportunity to pitch their design ideas to a real-life client. Patchogue Family Medical Care was in the planning stages of their building renovations. To update their entire new look, Dr. Christine M. Doucet (a Sayville resident and parent) and her partners were considering changing their outdoor marquee.

The ad campaigns by the students ‘sold’ Dr. Doucet and her partners on two designs, one for their stationery and the other for the new marquee. Student Kiona Bustamante's logo was chosen for their business stationary such as business cards and letterhead, while Chris Gale's logo was selected for the sign outside the building.

In early January, 2015, “Dr. Doucet invited us down to her newly remodeled doctor’s office on Route 112 in Patchogue Village,” Mr. Chad Cross said.  The last part of the major renovation was the completion of the sign that was designed by Sayville High School Senior Chris Gale while he was a sophomore in Advanced Computer Graphics.”

“Chris is now a senior and will be majoring in Mechanical Engineering in college next year,” Mr. Cross added. “Kiona Bustamante who is a sophomore in college at SUNY New Paltz was home on break and joined us.  Her logo design was used on the lab coats, floor mat, and stationary.”

Everyone was pleased by the official unveiling of the new sign, which was a true sign that the entire renovation project had finally been completed.
