Honors “Sayville Six” as SHINING STARS

For their exemplary service to education, six members of the Sayville community were recognized and honored as “Shining Stars” by SCOPE Education Services at the 13th Annual School District Awards Dinner, held in March.

Congratulations to our 2014 Shining Stars:  Rose Castello (Sunrise Drive Principal), Maribeth Demetres (District Clerk), Alice and Ed Kropp (Sayville Swim Program/Coaches), Lois Cloud Malenzcak (Community Member/Athletic Services),  and John Verdone (Board of Education President).

What makes these individuals Shining Stars?

    • The care and commitment that Rose Castello displays towards her students and staff serve as an example of leadership for all principals to match. We enthusiastically support recognition by SCOPE for her outstanding service.

    • Genuinely dedicated to serving Sayville School District residents, students, staff, and Board of Education for the past twenty years, District Clerk Maribeth Demetres has done so unfailingly, tirelessly, and with a winning smile.

    • A beacon of compassion, Lois Malenzcak brings awareness to worthy causes. Her leadership in diverse humanitarian efforts provides educational, athletic, and job opportunities to Sayville students.

    • Ed and Alice Kropp have dedicated their lives to Sayville and Bayport/Blue Point swimmers for 36 years. Over that time, Mr. and Mrs. Kropp have molded successful men and women, not just in swimming, but in life.
