  • Suffolk Zone Winners

Two Sayville Seniors, James Giattino and Emily Andres, who demonstrated excellence both in the classroom and on the athletic field, received the 2012 Suffolk Zone annual NYSAPHERAD Award.

    • Congratulations to Sayville’s James Giattino. James is a Senior who has excelled in the classroom and on the athletic field. He has maintained a weighted GPA of 102 and is an AP Scholar with Honors, a Rensselaer Medal Recipient, and member of the National Honor Society. He was also named the News 12 Long Island Scholar Athlete in September.

James is a two-year starter on the varsity football and basketball teams, is a member of the student government and Athletes Helping Others. This young man’s compassion, intensity, and commitment to excellence have led to his academic, athletic, and community-service successes.

James plans to attend either Amherst or Middlebury College, where he intends to play football and study Pre Med.

    •  Congratulations to Sayville’s Emily Andres. Emily is a Senior who has distinguished herself in the classroom as well as on the athletic field. She has a 97 average in physical education and is a member of the volleyball, winter and spring track teams.         Emily is a member of the National Honor Society, Athletes Helping Others, Interact, SWEEP and SADD.

Next fall, Emily plans on attending Coastal Carolina or Nova Southeastern University, where she will study marine or environmental science. Emily has truly left her mark at Sayville High School.
