Sayville students who are members of Athletes Helping Others participated in their second annual Polar Plunge in mid December at Cedar Beach in Mount Sinai and raised over $6,400 to support Special Olympics Athletes.

In addition—for a second year in a row—Sayville took 1st place!

After their courageous plunge, “the kids were able to enjoy the ‘VIP’ tent reserved for the top three teams,” explained Suzanne Hoss who along with her husband Rob Hoss, are AHO coadvisors. The students were served food in the VIP tent which “housed two hot tubs for the plungers to enjoy. What a great day! We were ‘freezin' for a reason.””
