Learning About Fire Safety
Sunrise Drive Elementary Kindergarten students won’t soon forget their visit from the Sayville Fire Department during Fire Prevention Month. To reinforce the children’s classroom lessons, the Sayville firefighters gave a presentation that began with questions and answers about fire prevention and safety. Their discussion was followed by various outside activities for the Kindergarten students.
The outdoor instruction gave each student a chance to sit on a firetruck and learn about all the firetruck equipment. They also explored the Safety House, where the firefighters taught the children more about what to do in case of a fire as well as how to prevent fires. The kindergarteners even had the chance to hold and use the fire hose. “The kids had a lot of fun and learned great safety tips,” Kindergarten teacher Ms. Andrea Nocito explained, “Thank you, Sayville Fire Department!”
