It is a fact that strong families build strong communities! We are all in this together, which necessitates that we encourage and support one another. Below, please find resources that may be of help to your family. We will continue to update this list periodically.
988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline offers 24/7 support for mental health, substance use, and more. Text, call, or chat 988 at any time.
Suffolk County Directory of Behavioral Health Services is a site that "features local Suffolk County agencies and programs that provide a wide range of behavioral health services. These services are mental health, substance use, and supportive programs for the community. This includes programs that provide prevention, harm reduction, treatment, and recovery services. The Division updates the Directory regularly to make sure that the program information is complete."

ParentGuidance.org is an online service supported by licensed therapists that provides trusted an specialized courses, professional support and a safe community for parents to get answers to a variety of mental health questions. This resource offers parents access to licensed therapists delivering on demand e-courses on topics like living with a child struggling with depression, identifying anxiety, and coping with grief and loss just to name a few.
Visit the Find Help Website to locate food assistance, help paying bills, and other free and reduced cost programs, including new programs for the COVID-19 pandemic. Simply type in your zip code and the website offers a number of assistance programs.
We encourage you to check out Child Mind Institute. This website publishes daily tips from experts to support families in addressing a number of challenges and topics. There are articles and videos that help parents and educators facilitate crucial conversations with their children and students.
The Dougy Center: Grief Resources for Parents and Caregivers
The mission of Dougy Center is to provide grief support in a safe place where children, teens, young adults, and their families can share their experiences before and after a death. We provide support and training locally, nationally, and internationally to individuals and organizations seeking to assist children who are grieving. Within the search bar of the website, you can select the type of loss that has been experienced and there will be specifically tailored resources.

The Be SMART campaign was launched in 2015 to promote responsible gun ownership in order to reduce child gun deaths. Whether you're a gun owner, or you know someone who owns a gun, there is a role for everyone in the conversation around secure gun storage. Be SMART is a framework that parents, caretakers, and community leaders can follow to help keep their communities safe.
Teens will have questions about drugs and alcohol. They will also receive false and harmful information from peers and other sources. This guide contains quick tips for parents/guardians to aid them in having life-saving conversations with their children.

Erin's Law requires that public schools implement a prevention-oriented child sexual abuse program. It is intended to help teachers, parents and students identify sexual abuse, and provide assistance and resource information for children and families who are victims of sexual abuse.
FSL's Diagnostic, Assessment and Stabilization Hub (DASH) offers 24-hour, 7 day a week care at a community-based site, plus Mobile Crisis Team, to help those struggling with a mental health or substance-use crisis. A multi-disciplinary team provides assessment, counseling, care management, and linkages to ongoing clinical services as needed.
