    To The Sayville School Community,

I hope that this email finds you and your loved ones safe and well.  We in the District are working on a series of plans that we hope will permit us to open school in September.  Much still depends on what happens with the continuing pandemic and the directions we receive from the Governor, NYSED, and the Department of Health.

On Wednesday, July 22 at 7:00pm, I will be meeting with district stakeholder representatives in a Superintendent Roundtable.  This will provide an opportunity to share the latest news and expand the dialogue concerning plans to reopen our schools.

The Board of Education and my first priority will always be the health and safety of our students, staff, and visitors.  The plans we develop will adhere to state and local mandates while working in the best interests of our students.  The plans we develop must take into account our students’ academic as well as social and emotional needs.

I invite all members of our Sayville Schools Community to become involved in the planning process.  Please send your questions, concerns, and comments regarding Sayville  School’s reopening plans to reopeningroundtable@sayvilleschools.org.  We will use information gathered from these emails, as well as the numerous letters and conversations that our Board of Education, educators and I have had with the community, to fully develop our reopening plans.

The District will provide regular updates as the reopening plans develop. Thank you for your patience, understanding and support as we face the tremendous challenges to our schools brought on by the pandemic crisis.

    Be well,

    Dr. Stimmel

    Superintendent of Schools
