• Message from Sayville Superintendent Dr. John Stimmel

    • March 13, 2020

Good Morning, this is Dr. Stimmel with an important announcement for the Sayville School Community.

While there are no known cases of COVID-19 in Sayville Schools we are, out of an abundance of caution, closing all schools on Monday, March 16 for students.

Staff should report to work.  Details will be provided later today.

This decision has been made to permit our teachers to prepare instructional materials for students should there be a long-term school closure due to the COVID-19 outbreak. This conference day will also permit the District’s custodial staff to continue their intensive COVID-19 cleaning process.

During this time, the District, working with county and state officials, will determine whether it is necessary to keep schools closed longer.

As a result of COVID-19 related concerns, the District will postpone, cancel or modify all field trips and extra-curricular activities until April 14th.  A complete list will be posted on the District webpage today.  Reminder; tomorrow’s SAT has been postponed.  (See pdf in left Navigator bar.)

Please know the Board of Education and I share the concerns of the entire community.  The District will continually evaluate new information and provide you with regular updates. Please keep checking our Webpage.

I am confident that we will get through this crisis together.

      Thank you and be well.

      Dr. John Stimmel

      Superintendent of Sayville Schools
