The Sayville School District Annual Budget and Trustee Election is scheduled for Tuesday, May 16, 2023 from 7:00 a.m. - 9:00 p.m.
As of March 1, 2023, petitions to run for a seat on the Board of Education are available in the District Clerk's Office:
The following terms are expiring:
- Two Three-year terms. Thomas Cooley and Dr. James Bertsch, Jr.
Nominating petitions must be signed by at least 25 qualified voters or 2% of those who have voted in the previous election, whichever is greater. For the 2023 Budget Vote, nominations must be signed by 54 qualified voters. Candidates are urged to exceed the required number in case an audit reveals signatures that are not valid. Each petition shall be filed in the office of the District Clerk between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4 p.m., Monday through Friday and no later than 5:00 p.m. on Monday, April 17, 2023.
April 17 - Due date for Petitions for Board Candidates by 5 p.m.
May 9 - 4:30-7:30 p.m. - Evening Voter Registration - Administration Building
May 9 - Last day to request an absentee ballot by mail
May 9 - 7:30 p.m. - Budget Hearing/Workshop - Administration Building
May 11 - Last day to register to vote - 3:00 p.m. - Administration Building
May 15 - Last day to request an absentee ballot (in person)
May 16 - Annual Budget Vote and Election - 7 a.m. - 9 p.m. - Old Junior High School
District residents who are interested in running for a Board of Education position should contact Julie Vaccaro, District Clerk, at 631-244-6510 or firstname.lastname@example.org to request nominating petitions. Nominating petitions must be submitted to the District Clerk no later than Monday, April 17, 2023 at 5:00 p.m. in order to appear on the ballot for the May 16, 2023 election.
