Sunrise Drive Construction Project - Early Views

Construction Project

    Progress is Sunny at Sunrise

Sunrise Drive’s construction project—to build a larger cafeteria/auditorium—is making such great progress. Since school doors closed last June, the old cafeteria and stage were demolished and the previously inadequate parking lot was expanded with 68 additional spaces.

In September, the foundation had been laid and the slab poured. By late fall, the steel girders structure was closed in so that the interior work could continue without winter weather interruptions.

The Sunrise Drive community reports that this construction project has been minimally disruptive to the students and staff, thanks to the solid cinderblock walls that divided the school side from the construction site.

What’s ahead? The finished cafeteria/auditorium is well within schedule and underbudget, and is expected to be completed for students in September 2006.

Most importantly, funding for this long-overdue project was made possible by the responsible fiscal management of the voter-approved bond referendum.
