2019-2020 Proposed-Budget Process with BOE Presentations

INTRODUCTION TO THE 2019-2020 BUDGET PROCESS

Amid New York State Declaration of Revenue Shortfalls, Sayville School District has begun the Budget Process for the 2019-2020 School Year.

While news from Albany is not encouraging, Sayville is keeping optimistic about how it will control costs and simultaneously maintain or enhance our excellent programs. The first draft of the 2019-2020 Budget was presented at the February 7th Board of Education workshop meeting and proposed a modest spending increase of $1,591,724 or 1.70% with a property tax-rate increase that is at the calculated Tax Levy  Cap of 2.34%.  Please review the attached presentation to understand the intricacies of this process.

There are many factors still to be taken into account before the final budget is approved by the Board and submitted for voter approval at the May 21, 2019 Budget Vote. Please consider joining us at the BOE meetings (see dates below) to learn more about the challenges ahead.

BOARD OF EDUCATION MEETINGS: February 7, February 14, March 7,  March 14, April 4,  April 16 (Tuesday not Thursday) to include BOCES Vote, May 9, and  May14 (Budget Hearing/workshop).
