2020-2021 Budget Process Pre-Covid-19 Info

FEBRUARY 2020

Introduction to 2020-21 Proposed Budget Sayville

With the 2020-2021 School Budget, Sayville School District Aims to Build Upon Current Successes

While news from Albany is not encouraging, Sayville is keeping optimistic about how it will build on existing successes and continue to sustain our school programs during a relative flat revenue year.

The first draft of the 2020-2021 Budget was presented at the February 6th Board of Education workshop meeting and proposed a modest spending increase of 1,854,652 or 1.97%, with a property tax-rate increase that is below Sayville’s calculated Tax Levy Cap of 2%.

Please review the attached presentation to understand the intricacies of this process.

There are many factors still to be taken into account before the final budget is approved by the Board and submitted for voter approval at the May 19, 2020 Budget Vote. Please consider joining us at the BOE meetings (see dates below) to learn more about the challenges ahead.

BOARD OF EDUCATION MEETINGS: February 6, February 13, March 5,  March 12, April 2,  April 21 (Tuesday not Thursday) to include BOCES Vote, May 7 and May12 (Budget Hearing/workshop).
