Sayville School District

Introduction

At the Sayville School District, the plan for a safe return to in-person instruction and continuity of services was developed in August 2020.  Per guidance from the New York State Education Department (NYSED), such a plan meets the requirements of Section 2001(i)(1) of the ARP Act. The plan can be obtained on the district website: /Page/18823.

The Sayville School District has been allocated $1,632,891.  

Funding is earmarked for: 

  • Safe operation of in person learning
  • Address academic impact of pandemic (Interventions)
  • How interventions will address the academic impact of the whole child and those disproportionately impacted by the pandemic

Methods of Consultation

Meaningful consultation with stakeholders was acquired regarding the plan from students, staff and parents via surveys.

Safe operation of in person learning

Use of interventions that will address the academic impact of the pandemic on the whole child and those disproportionately impacted by the pandemic.

  • Addressing the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on all students, including low-income students, students with disabilities, English language learners, and students experiencing homelessness. 
  • Implementing evidence-based strategies to meet students’ social, emotional, mental health and academic needs. Offering evidence-based summer, afterschool, and other extended learning and enrichment programs.
  • Supporting early childhood education
  • Purchase of educational technology
  • Professional development

Expense of fund not designated above

Per U.S. Department of Education guidance, the district may use ESSER funds for the broad range of activities listed in section 18003(d) of the CARES Act, section 313(d) of the CRRSA Act, and section 2001(e) of the ARP Act. Although the lists of allowable uses of funds are not identical, any of the ESSER funds (ESSER I, ESSER II, or ARP ESSER) may be used to support all of the allowable uses of funds listed in any of the ESSER programs.
