Celebrated Author Visits High School Library

Sayville High School Library recently welcomed author Paul Volponi for three reader workshops and a double period of creative writing. 

Mr. Volponi is the recipient of multiple literary awards, including 12 American Library Association honors and an International Reading Association Children’s Book Award. His books have received 5 starred reviews and have been selected as some of the best young adult Quick Pick Top 10 titles.

Mr. Volponi’s personal stories kept students engaged; he even told them that he was a non-reader in middle and high school and the last student you’d imagine to write 20 books!

Students shared some of their work with the author ahead of time, so he was able to improve their skills and vision.

Students, teachers, and administrators all enjoyed the workshops.

High school librarian Mrs. Finnerty said she looks forward to hosting Mr. Volponi again next year as he was engaging and entertaining!
