Frosty the Snowman Mystery

On Wednesday, December 20, 2023, the fourth and fifth grade enrichment students from Lincoln Avenue and Sunrise Drive joined together with the sixth and seventh grade enrichment students from Sayville Middle School to solve the mystery of who melted Frosty. 

The students were grouped into teams that combined members from each school. They were presented with the problem, and then worked together to solve the mystery before the other teams. They had to use their detective skills to dust for prints, solve word puzzles and logic puzzles to uncover the method of melting Frosty, the motive and a list of suspects.

They then raced around the building on a goose chase to uncover where the suspects were and finally determine who was guilty.

Mrs. Lutz from Lincoln Avenue planned the event as the culmination of her spy module. She was assisted by Mrs. Toth and Mr. Goodman to create the plot and create the challenging activities. 

To make the event a success, middle school science teacher Mr. Daleo and Sunrise Drive S.T.E.A.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) teacher Mrs. Horton helped implement the event along with the three building librarians: Mrs. Rooney, Mrs. Volpe, and Mrs. LaPort.

This awesome collaboration challenged about 60 of Sayville's brightest leaders in grades 4-7 to push themselves and successfully solve problems as a team!
