Cherry Avenue Veterans Celebration

Cherry Avenue held their annual Veteran’s Celebration in their cafeteria which was decorated with beautiful student art for the occasion.

Brunch was provided to veterans and their families thanks to Food Service Instructor Ms. Lauren Daquet along with her team of students and assistants from Eastern Suffolk BOCES - Islip Career Center.

Attendees had the opportunity to have their photo taken in front of a photo booth background. The photos were printed out and framed for guests to take home with them.

After brunch, guests were treated to readings and music from Cherry Avenue students which included songs such as “My Country Tis of Thee” and “Thankful for Our Veterans” which was written by Cherry Avenue Music Teacher Kristi Woerner.

A video was also played that featured Cherry Avenue students from grades K-5 speaking about what veterans meant to them.

Lincoln Avenue Veterans Breakfast

Lincoln Avenue held their annual Veteran’s Day breakfast before school in their cafeteria. Students performed readings and a song for the veterans in attendance.

Mrs. Bailey’s UPK Class

Students in Mrs. Bailey’s UPK class at Lincoln Avenue had three veterans visit as special guests. The students sang a thank you song and gave the veterans paper poppies and cards they had made.
