Middle School Hosts First Ever Pep Rally

October 12, 2023

On Thursday, October 5, Sayville Middle School students gathered in the gymnasium during 10th period to cheer on the Fall Sports Teams in the school's first Pep Rally.

“Today is a celebration for all of our athletes,” said Pep Rally coordinator and Physical Education Teacher Ms. Erin Rymer. “The success of our junior varsity and varsity programs starts right here with our middle school teams.”

Before the rally began, Middle School student Sofia Jarmel sang the National Anthem for all in attendance.

Once she finished, the party began!

Each fall sports team was announced and made their way into the cheering gymnasium under a purple and gold balloon arch. As the teams passed under the arch, they broke through a sign with their team's name on it to thunderous applause.

After all of the teams entered, the Middle School Cheerleaders put on an awesome routine for the crowd. Following the cheerleader routine, the Sayville Dance Team performed their seasonal debut performance to thunderous applause.

“This day is not only about celebrating athletics but celebrating all that you do to contribute to the Sayville community,” said Director of Health, Physical Education and Interscholastic Athletics, Dr. Ryan Cox.

“It’s not just about the team, it's about the support from our student body, support from our faculty, support from our staff, our administration. This is a special place to live, work, play sports and be involved.”
