Bonding at Traditional Senior Breakfast
Senior Breakfast
CLASS 2017 Celebrates Senior Breakfast
For an unbelievable twenty-nine years, Sayville Seniors have been enjoying the annual Senior Breakfast, and there is no reason to stop now. This wonderful tradition offers the students the opportunity to bond as a class, to reflect about their years in Sayville, and to give thanks to those who have made their journey memorable. It seems appropriate that Senior Breakfast has been traditionally scheduled on the last school day before Thanksgiving.
Senior Class of 2017 Advisers Colleen Backer and Marie Sinclair, along with class officers and the Breakfast Committee, decorated the cafeteria with streamers, golden table clothes, balloons, and centerpieces. Steaming trays of everyone’s favorites: bacon, eggs, omelets, French toast, home fries, along with bagels, fresh fruit with yogurt, juice, coffee, and all the trimmings were provided by Parkville Deli and served by volunteer Senior Class parents.
This year’s Class of 2017 entertainment added a new feature, “Faculty Superlatives” that gave lighthearted recognition to select staff members. After the traditional slide show, the breakfast ended with the “Class Superlatives.” Each student named received a cap with the Superlatives description written on it.
Originally launched by Senior Class Adviser Mrs. Marie Joost-Cox and former High School Principal Joseph Buderman, the annual Senior Breakfast remains a tradition and a privilege enjoyed by generations of Sayville students.
