Flags on the Fields
For Field Day this year at both Cherry Avenue and Sunrise Drive elementary schools, Physical Education teacher Gary Jensen had a bird’s-eye view of a very special pre-event activity.
Wearing their class-color T-shirts, the Cherry Avenue students in third through fifth grade lined up to create the American flag.
On their field day, the entire Sunrise Drives student body also formed the flag and kept formation until Mr. Gary Jensen could snap this aerial view.
“This year,” Sunrise Drive Physical Education teacher Amy Chaimowitz added, “ Gary and I invited our students to enter an essay contest. The three winners were able to read their essays to the school on Field Day. The title was, What do you think makes America great?”
