Cherry Avenue Art Teacher Hosts Field Trip IN School

Cherry Avenue Art students and Art Teacher Robin Laxton recently enjoyed a special in-school field trip with Fifth-graders. Three Hecksher Art Museum art instructors, Kristina, Jess, and Lisa brought supplies and information on the artist “Romero Britto” in this collaboration with Mrs. Laxton. The Fifth-grade students were “given the history of the artist,” Mrs. Laxton explained, “then given time to create a self-portrait in his style. This was a great opportunity for the students to be introduced to an artist and get a taste of what the Hecksher Art Museum has to offer. Students were given a free family pass to the museum so they can get a true museum experience!” Mrs. Laxton also expressed her enormous gratitude to Sayville Music Booster for the Arts. “The visit was funded by Sayville’s SMBA program, a group that supports the arts!”
