Debate Captain Eric Stenzel Wins Award at NYS Debate

Congratulations to Eric Stenzel, the Captain of the Sayville High School Debate Team, for placing eighth in the entire State at the New York State 2018 Forensic League State Championship on April 29-30, 2018.

As a quarterfinalist representing Sayville High School, Eric competed in the Varsity Lincoln-Douglas Debate against opponents from schools including the Bronx High School of Science, Chaminade High School, Syosset High School, Jericho High School, Scarsdale High School, Roslyn High School, Harrison High School, Shenendehowa High School, and other schools from across NY.

 Sayville High School Debate Team Advisor Eileen Walsh-Ahrens was  delighted by Eric and her other debate club members. “Overall the Sayville High School Debate Team has grown this year,” she said, “with an average of six students competing at local tournaments! The team is planning on expanding even further next year!”
