MS Recognizes International Peace Day with Kindness Rocks
KINDNESS ROCKS AT MIDDLE SCHOOL
Sayville Middle School Recognizes International Peace Day with Painted Rocks–
Art teacher Tiffany Pontieri’s seventh graders painted “Kindness Rocks” for International Peace Day. The students placed their rocks with messages of hope, inspiration, and peace around the school for everyone to discover and enjoy.
The concept of Kindness Rocks began as a hobby launched by Megan Murphy who believed that “one message at just the right moment can change a person’s day…outlook…life.” It started as an anonymous movement on Cape Cod, but like a rock thrown into a pond, the ripple effect of the Kindness Rocks Projects has spread with an unstoppable energy, especially at a time when the world needs more kindness!
From the website: The Kindness Rocks Project has two main goals:
GOAL #1: INSPIRE OTHERS THROUGH RANDOMLY PLACED ROCKS ALONG THE WAY…”one message at just the right moment can change a person’s day…outlook…life.”
GOAL #2: RECRUIT EVERY PERSON WHO STUMBLES UPON IT TO JOIN IN THE PURSUIT OF INSPIRING OTHERS THROUGH RANDOM ACTS OF KINDNESS
Ms. Pontieri and her Sayville students showed great enthusiasm for this project. Their beautiful messages on the adorned rocks will delight for ages.
