As an upbeat activity to raise school spirits during February, Sayville High School’s Student Government recently hosted a week-long ping-pong tournament during tenth periods.

Students and some staff—including Mr. Hoffer—signed up in advance and played singles. In a fun atmosphere filled with energizing music and cheering fans, the contestants competed until the last two opponents, Paul Columbo and Brenden Smith, faced off as finalists.  Brenden proved victorious and won a spectacular five-pound chocolate bar.

“All had fun,” announced Student Government Advisor Kathy Van Dorn, “and another is in the planning.”
