After months of reconstruction to upgrade the school library, the newly renovated Sayville High School Library-Instructional Media Center officially reopened its doors on February 13, 2019 with a celebration of words in both prose and poetry to commemorate the event.  Sayville Central Office Administrators: Sayville Superintendent Dr. John Stimmel, Assistant Superintendent for Business John Belmonte who oversaw the entire construction project, Assistant Superintendent for Instruction Dr. Christine Criscione, Instructional Information Technology Coordinator Barbara Hall, and High School Principal Ron Hoffer joined High School Librarian Nancy Finnerty at the Ribbon-Cutting ceremony.

After Mrs. Finnerty shared words of welcome, Mr. Hoffer expressed words of thanks, and English Chairperson Ed Schmieder offered words to dedicate the memorial teak bench in honor of English Mrs. Joanne Killeen who passed away three years ago, Sayville students were invited to read selections from poems appropriate for the occasion. Sayville High School Dean of Students Jillian Makris, Interim Director of Special Education Tracy Von Eschen, and library-desk assistant Trish Greco were among the many teachers and staff who attended the event.
