Lincoln Avenue's JUMP-ROPE-FOR-HEART Event Raises Spirits and $26,000 for American Heart Association

Taking a leap of faith is one thing, but jumping rope in the hope of fighting heart disease is something Sayville elementary students at Lincoln Avenue have proven they could do, time and time again.

On a recent Spring morning, between 7:45-9:00 a.m., Lincoln Avenue students gave “rise and shine” new meaning as they participated in the Jump Rope for Kids Heart Challenge. The students joined with the American Heart Association in the fight against the nation’s “Number One” and “Number Three” killers—cardiovascular diseases and stroke. “This event,” Coach Beth Bolger said, “is so great because it teaches students that they too can be heroes and save lives. It teaches students how to make a difference in their community and how great it feels to help others!”

And the students demonstrated greatness—as a school, they raised over $26,400—to help “people in our community learn how to avoid heart disease and stroke and live longer, healthier lives,” Bolger continued, adding, “Since partnering with Jump Rope for Heart in 2006, Lincoln Ave. has raised over $200,000!”
