Lincoln Avenue Principal Dr. Michele LeBlanc had good news to share about one of her First Grade students.  ”Audrey Leo was awarded FIRST PLACE at the Brookhaven National Lab Elementary Science Fair. The BNL Fair, which took place on May 4, provides the venue for ALL Suffolk County Elementary School First Place Winners to compete with one another. Audrey’s project Knot Again came out on top! Her goal was to find the best way to wear her hair at night, to reduce the time and frustration of detangling her gorgeous long hair each morning.”

Using repeated trials and herself as the test subject, Audrey reported, ”My data told me that wearing braids is the way to go. A bun is my second best choice, but it was uncomfortable and hard to sleep in.”

Upon discovering her project was an award-winner, Audrey told Dr. LeBlanc “that she was so happy, excited and surprised to win at all. She thanked her mom for helping her with the supplies, the hair styles, and for being her mom.”

Audrey’s accomplishment will be celebrated at the Suffolk County Legislators meeting on June 4th. Congratulations Audrey!
