Six from Sayville-Bayport-Bluepoint Girls Swimming/Diving team made States!!!

“The girls did a fantastic job at the NY State Swimming And Diving Championships,” Head Coach Nicole Mendez-Chicas reported, “Megan Donnelly placed 7th in the state in the 100 Butterfly with a personal best time and 22nd in the 200 Freestyle. Kathryn Brady placed 23rd in the 200 IM with a lifetime best time. Our divers, Tarynn Boesch and Megan Romano finished 43rd and 46th respectively. Megan Romano broke the 11 Dive school record. And Megan Donnelly, Katie Kolar, Brenna Horan, & Kathryn Brady placed 36th in the state for the 400 Freestyle Relay. Each section also chooses one athlete who embodies positive sportsmanship at the State meet. This athlete is supportive of all her teammates, friendly & enthusiastic. Our very own Megan Donnelly won the Sportsmanship award for Section XI!”

Placing first as League III Champions were the members of the Sayville-Bayport-Bluepoint Girls Swimming team: Megan Donnelly, Katie Kolar, Megan Romano, Natalia Liberato, Madison Perez, Meghan Filosa, Natalie Young, Chloe Jeffares, Jackie Kanaley, Kathryn Brady, Brenna Horan, Tarynn Boesch, Jillian Ratsello, Jenna Johnson, Jordan Carpentieri, and Serena Buono. The team also placed third in the Section XI Championship. The members who made the county qualifying cut: Megan Romano, Tarynn Boesch, Jillian Rastello, Megan Donnelly, Kathryn Brady, Jordan Carpentieri (8th grader), Katie Kolar, Brenna Horan, Natalie Young, Madison Perez, and Natalia Liberato. 

"They all did so well," Coach Nicole continued, "and Coach Andy and I could not be more proud! In addition to sending six girls to states, we placed 3rd in Suffolk County in the Section 11 Girls Swimming and Diving Championships."
