October 10, 2019
As if on the winds of the off-shore nor’easter, Sayville High and Middle School art students blew into town to paint the windows of select, local merchants with Halloween-themes they designed.
Generations of students have enjoyed the annual tradition—for nearly forty years—in all kinds of weather. So, despite gusty winds and threats of showers, teams of art students, chaperoned by their teachers, magically transformed the storefronts into ghoulish or fanciful Halloween visions. Again, as part of their long-standing partnership with Sayville Schools, the Kiwanis Club donated the painting supplies to this year’s fresh talent of art students—a win-win for all involved.
Weekend visitors to Downtown Sayville’s Fall Festival, held on Saturday, October 12th, were treated to these spooky compositions, while they participated in the Annual Halloween Parade, the Pie-Baking Contest, the Carved-Pumpkin Contest, the Scarecrow Contest, along with the other activities planned for the day.
