Sayville School District's Social and Emotional Wellness initiative, S.T.R.I.D.E.S., was launched last year to support out student's emotional growth. The acronym of S.T.R.I.D.E.S. represented the important attributes that are “integral to personal happiness and success" which are:

S elf-esteem, T rust,  R esiliency, I ndependence, D iversity, E mpathy, S trength.”

This year, Student Services Director Jillian Makris is continuing to promote this themed approach to keep these core values in the spotlight as everyone deals with the stress and anxieties caused by COVID-19 concerns.

As October is Self-Esteem month, students and staff throughout the district focused on promoting self-esteem. For Spanish class, Mrs. Petrone reminded her sixth grade students that they are incredible, important, special, kind, and unique. En español of course!
