The Cherry Avenue Fifth-Grade Student Council, in conjunction with the Cherry Avenue School Community, showed their support for those affected by the ongoing war in Ukraine. Students organized a humanitarian aid donation drive, collecting essential items generously donated by Cherry Avenue families, such as band aids, gauze, toothbrushes, toothpaste, baby diapers, baby wipes, shampoo/conditioner, body wash, soap, and deodorant. Staff contributed first aid kits, Advil, Tylenol, and Acetaminophen.

The collection was widely successful and over twenty-five boxes filled with hundreds of items were delivered to Saints Peter and Paul Ukrainian Orthodox Church in West Islip. The items were accepted by Father Victor Wronskyj and his wife Ivanna Wronskyj, who expressed their utmost appreciation for the efforts and kindness of the Cherry community. Father Victor, along with the assistance of his Program Coordinator Inna Kosmenko, will arrange for the distribution of supplies through Poland.

The Cherry Avenue Student Council is extremely grateful and thankful for the generous outpouring of support shown by our Cherry families and staff.
