P.S. I Love Day at Lincoln Avenue
Seven months after tragedy struck the DiPalma family on April 23rd, 2010, Brooke DiPalma founded a mission to combat suicide and launched P.S. I LOVE YOU DAY. With the help of her high school's class club and family, she set aside the second Friday in February as a day to recognize how truly precious life is for all who are suffering from depression and thoughts of suicide. “Tragedy should not be the force for togetherness; Togetherness should be the force that ends tragedies.” Twelve years later, P.S.I LOVE YOU DAY continues to fulfill the mission of bringing awareness to the importance of mental health and decreasing bullying.
For P.S. I LOVE YOU DAY, Lincoln Avenue First Graders in Mrs. Meloni and Ms. Straub’s class spread kindness throughout the halls of Lincoln Avenue, and the walls of their classrooms. Purple hearts with personalized messages of thanks, kindness, and admiration filled the doorways of teachers and staff. Within the classroom, each child had a keepsake poster filled with words of friendship, written by each peer in class. #SpreadKindness

P.S. I Love You Day is held every second Friday of February, making our next celebration on February 11th, 2022. On this day we ask everyone to wear purple to stand up against bullying, help end depression, and ultimately prevent suicide. We hope that on this day you walk around your community, school, or work office and see a sea of purple. We hope that you hear nothing but positive messages that make you feel special, loved, and remind you that you are never alone.
Our Mission.
Our mission is to bring awareness to the importance of mental health and decrease bullying. We strongly believe that by educating students earlier about mental health, the conversation will be easier to discuss and students will be able to recognize when they or others around them need help.
