Sunrise Drive S.T.R.I.D.E.S. into Summer

Throughout the school year, the S.T.R.I.D.E.S.  program has been helping students focus on attributes of good character by incorporating social emotional awareness into their daily lives. At Sunrise Drive, the S.T.R.I.D.E.S. committee, spearheaded by Ms. Denise Philp, wanted to keep up this momentum by providing themed activities for summer fun. All the Sunrise Drive students participated in a pre-summer workshop to help motivate them.   "Each class moved through a variety of stations," Ms. Philp explained, "to review and reinforce the S.T.R.I.D.E.S. characteristics.  The students practiced helping others in a cooperative game, discussed different ethnic foods they might try, and learned to trust their gut when it comes to staying safe and healthy.  They discussed the importance of taking care and calming their bodies as well.  With the help of parent volunteers, committed staff members and a take-home activity book, Sunrise Drive students are ready to follow Sunny the Duck's lead into a healthy and happy summer!"
