Take a Listen to a New Sound in Sayville Schools

The Sayville Funk Orchestra is a new performing group at Sayville High School, led by Middle School Chorus Teacher, Fred Diekmann. The group will specialize in funk, reggae, and the blues. Since October, the members have been hard at work on songs by The Meters, Bob Marley, and Albert King. Mr. Diekmann has his sights on introducing Afro Cuban rhythms to the mix, as well as original compositions. The group currently consists of three guitars, bass, two keyboards, drums, baritone horn, saxophone, and three vocalists (see names below), with hopes that they can add more horn players in the future and perhaps special guest performers, such as High School Art Teacher Evan Hammer.
