Art Projects "The Unity Quilt" & "Chalk the Walk" for International Peace Day
“On September 21st, the Art department at the High School brought attention to the International Day of Peace with our annual Peace Art installation,” Art Teacher Jen Berotti shared. “This year we chose to create a Unity Quilt made of colorful paper squares. Each student created the squares and then helped to assemble over 300 squares on top of a previously created Peace Banner.”
Each student’s' individual contribution added to the whole design of the Unity Quilt, symbolizing how every square mattered just like every student matters. The art was hung in the four-corners halls so everyone in the school could enjoy it as it evolved over the course of a week. In addition, art students districtwide “chalked the walk” to the main entrance to welcome everyone with colorful mandalas and symbols of peace.
