Congratulations to Sayville H.S. Debate team and their co-coaches Eileen Walsh-Ahrens and Ally Bricker for their success at the Long Island Forensic Association Debate Tournament on a recent Saturday in mid-November!
“The tournament was hosted by Schreiber High School in Port Washington,” said Coach Walsh-Ahrens. “We competed against some of the most competitive schools on Long Island. Ella Ryan competed in the Lincoln-Douglas category, while James Regan and Ian Chung (see below) competed as the Public Forum team. Everyone went 3-1 in their rounds! James and Ian placed and earned their first ½ qualification for States!”
After their recent success, the High School Debate Team has become motivated and is building momentum for the next competition on December 17th, hosted by Syosset High School. Sayville will also be hosting a tournament on February 4, 2023!
